My Smile

I may
sit and smile now
but you would never know
how I learnt to keep it
and breathe beams of
good cheer.

Weathered
by paths of strife,
singled by pains of life,
I’ve survived despite blows.
I symbolize
true life.

Changes
don’t touch me now
I’m immune to trials
bridges borrow my strength
lakes learn calmness
from me.

I am
epitome
of positivity
my smile just signifies
compliance with
karma.

I’ve made a second attempt to write a string of Badger’s Hexastitch. I like this form!

A Badger’s Hexastich is a poem of 6 lines with 2-4-6-6-4-2 syllables per line. It is unrhymed, with optional rising and falling end-words.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

#TankaTuesday – Taiga

pristine clouds seem like
angels about to descend
will they spray magic,
drenching me with divine love?
mesmerizing spectacle.

#TankaTuesday is back! Thank you dear Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry.

For challenge no. 1, Colleen invites interested writers to create a taiga, and the caveat is to use a black and white image, paired with a syllabic poem. A taiga is a tanka and an image.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

New Dawn

New Dawn

Dawn dissipates darkness
An ocean within me turns.
Traipsing on the waves of hope
I hold the strings of a new day.

It’s time to embrace the dawn,
Hold the glow in my heart
Let the light seep into my bones
Learn from the horizon.

Magical moments don’t last –
They come like waves,
Break into a calm whisper,
Breathe life into each element.

A wake-up call to gather the remnants,
To merge into the mysteries around us
To walk with the shroud of light
And smile once again.

Inspired from WDYS #269 by Sadje. Thanks for the inspiration Sadje. Dawn is my favorite time of the day.

Wishing all my blogger buddies and readers a Happy and creative 2025.

I am emerging from the darkness of self-imposed isolation, promising to be more responsive in 2025. Thank you dear friends, for all the love and support.

A Pleasant Morning

I open my front door to be greeted by the marvels of Mother Nature. No more subtle, autumn shines through some leaves while myrtle trees compete with them in their own way. A pleasant morning is adorned by the mackerel clouds, promising a positive change. Sun peeps through them, refusing to surrender. After a smoldering summer, we heave a sigh of relief and look forward to night parties in the backyard to honor the change of season.

time to revel as
remaining heat dissipates
Milky Way beckons.

Morning Walk

A windy morning, humming the song of autumn stretches its arms to kiss the dew on the grasses. Young trees waltz, but the old oak watches, blending his rhythms with the wind. The Myrtle tree sacrifices her pink and purple blossoms to the blustery gale. My favorite trees have already got the whiff of change. They wave at me with colorful branches. Chill rips through my spring jacket, licking at my skin, delving deeper into my bones.

Autumn chill cloaks me
the pleasure of walk weakens
I quicken my pace.
