Breaking Free #Poetry

Inward journeys are most intense
They start with ripping several cloaks,
Many of which are worn out.
We cling on to them
They may be in tatters, yet seem precious.
They reek of desolation, yet are a part of dermis
However hard we try to rend them off
It hurts.
The throbbing is agonizing.

BUT

Inward journeys are essential
To dig deeper into the tunnels of desires,
To excavate moments that are worth keeping,
To hold sands of time, for a while,
To decompress emotional forces,
To sift through vagaries of life,
To redefine our perspective,
And step out of the time warp
that holds us captive.

I’ve cleared most of the layers
I even broke through the iron cage –
rusted and chained,
where onyx cobwebs clung to me,
clearly questioning my intentions
Of breaking free.

The Last Gift

This ordinary piece of paper
Which conceals all…
Those unheard words, whimsical wishes
Eternal entreaties, abiding aspirations
A dazzling display of words
May seem insignificant to you.

This letter – the last attempt to persuade you,
To remind you
Of the moments etched on our hearts,
Of the hours that walked with us,
Of the words that ignited us,
You know them so well.

This treasure, signed with the same love
That we lost in the maelstrom of life
Please consider it as my last gift,
A gentle flame that still flickers
Despite the death
That’s knocking at my door.

The Untold Lie #WDYS

The Untold Lie

Her fingers yearn for Mama’s hands
But she holds a cold device
It doesn’t offer any love
Her lullabies emanate from nowhere
As empty as the walls around her.

Still struggling with the new device,
her glum face divulges all.
She likes to watch the story of ships,
Stranded on the orange sea —
A sea that swallowed her dear dad.

No one told her he’ll never return
She’ll wait for eternity.
Muted by neglect and apathy
She doesn’t know a smile,
or the warmth of an emotional anchor.

On the tenebrous path of her life,
when she grows up with the void,
with the untold lie
Will she be emotionally numb?
Or hold a hollow heart?

Bridging Breaches #WDYS -330

Bridging Breaches

Buried in the debris of desires
Words emerge to mock me
Calling across the bridge of brooding
with readiness to embrace.

Reminiscent of past promises,
Of the fiery wish to meet
Where the ancient bridge bends
Where the forest lovers linger
to hear the silence.

The bridge is quiet
Just like the still trees,
Silenced by the seasonal magic.
Then it grows darker and narrower
Travelers tarry here to glean the difference
between chaos and tranquility.

The world of love and peace begins here
A gentle hand of Mother Nature knocks away
all the moments of acrimony.

Whispers

Borrowed light
Travelling through time
Whispers secrets that sound true.

Moments pause here, muted by
Arched attachments
Silence saunters with élan.

Dedication dons ancient attire
Shadows settle on history —
Long forgotten ghosts.

Blinded by light and sound show,
They watch from the edges
How the arches come to life.

Each one whispers a story
Of the door that never opened,
Of the freedom that remained a dream.
