The Untold Lie #WDYS

The Untold Lie

Her fingers yearn for Mama’s hands
But she holds a cold device
It doesn’t offer any love
Her lullabies emanate from nowhere
As empty as the walls around her.

Still struggling with the new device,
her glum face divulges all.
She likes to watch the story of ships,
Stranded on the orange sea —
A sea that swallowed her dear dad.

No one told her he’ll never return
She’ll wait for eternity.
Muted by neglect and apathy
She doesn’t know a smile,
or the warmth of an emotional anchor.

On the tenebrous path of her life,
when she grows up with the void,
with the untold lie
Will she be emotionally numb?
Or hold a hollow heart?

Dawn Delight #WDYS

glorious morning
in harmony with nature
waits for new magic.

***

sun spreads divine gold
creates fusion of colors
illumines our life.

***

serrated peaks kiss
a demure dawn is smiling
scattering some cheer.

***

a beautiful glow
permeates through the branches
sublime dawn delight.

***

a dash of yellow
enriched by orange hues
scintillating sky.

Bridging Breaches #WDYS -330

Bridging Breaches

Buried in the debris of desires
Words emerge to mock me
Calling across the bridge of brooding
with readiness to embrace.

Reminiscent of past promises,
Of the fiery wish to meet
Where the ancient bridge bends
Where the forest lovers linger
to hear the silence.

The bridge is quiet
Just like the still trees,
Silenced by the seasonal magic.
Then it grows darker and narrower
Travelers tarry here to glean the difference
between chaos and tranquility.

The world of love and peace begins here
A gentle hand of Mother Nature knocks away
all the moments of acrimony.

The Thunderbird – A legend

This week’s poetry challenge is extremely interesting. Though it is a photo prompt but I must confess that I didn’t know anything about this picture. Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to learn more while writing poetry.

The challenge is to write a syllabic poem using the photo for inspiration. “Delve deeper into the mythology behind the image,” says Colleen.

I chose to write a string of haiku.

a cultural pride
engraved on my mystic wings
an ancient grandeur

***

stories of clans ooze
out of my cedar carvings
blessed by natives

***

my wings hold power
producing thunderous sound
remnants of chagrin

***

I sound like thunder
when my powerful wings flap
lightning eyes shoot ire

***

fearsome to behold
I ward off evil spirits
but I seek heavens

Dark #writephoto

dark-hills

When Night Fairy descends
Decked in dark shimmering robes
Disseminating light and love
We look at the moonless sky
Whispering symphony of lullabies.
