A Memorable Villa

One of my childhood memories
Could never fade,
As Grandpa’s favorite picture
still adorns the big wall of his room.

He loved this villa,
Its blue doors and windows
In sync with the sky
and the sea that faced it.

A narrow staircase
Kissed the clouds
“We often tried to touch them,”
He smiled when he told us.

We would sit in awe
When he told us
the stories of this beautiful house,
encompassed by flowery creepers.

Flower fairies adored the walls
Butterflies played with them,
Breeze danced in delight
It sounded magical!

“Is it a fairy tale, grandpa?”
We asked him.
His wistful eyes wandered
as he shook his head in disagreement.

Young aspirations took flight,
The pull of the world enticed him
Leaving childhood home behind,
he got lost in the endless chase of life.

Villas live longer than people
They cradle many generations
Such pictures steal a sliver of time —
a prized possession of memories.
