Crossroads

A magical glow
what a surreal sunrise!
Joshua trees gleam.

Morning rays beckon
an unknown chill confines me
icy fingers clench.

Unseen clouds cloak me
a rocky terrain restricts
memories warm up.

Through the yellow light
your hands reach out to hold me
A mystical sight!

#TankaTuesday – Butterfly Cinquain

Behold…

The grass
drenched with dew
waits for the orange glow
daisies toss their heads with dahlias
bees drink
the potion of spring with fervor
I join the children who
catch butterflies
with zing.

Betrayal

Fiery
embers smolder
within my pristine heart,
desecrated by Trojan horse.
ash swarms,
asphyxiating my larynx.
shadows crawl around me.
shrouded in fog,
I drop.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. This week’s challenge is to experiment with synesthesia. Choose a syllabic form of your choice, and use at least two examples of synesthesia in your poem. (If two examples are too much, make sure you have at least one example of synesthesia in your poem).

I’ve written two Butterfly Cinquains. The Butterfly Cinquain is an unrhymed, nine-line syllabic titled poem with the pattern: 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

Fading Light

Have you walked the dark corridors
or sat buried in the deluge
where the soul strives to break free?
Have you ever fallen
down the cliff like a
thin waterfall
cascading
down to
sink?

Lost
in the
new alleys
of the valley
with no intent of
crawling back, they sought peace
in the echoes of nature
the glow of fading light lingered
slight hope flickered at the horizon.

Thanks to Colleen and Willow for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry.

This week, Willow is hosting Tanka Tuesday, and her prompt is to write a Nonet, and use synonyms for : The state of the world/ or our lives. This is according to our interpretation. We can use synonyms for our life if we prefer.

A Nonet is a nine line poem with the syllable count of 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. It can be written on any subject and must have a title. A Nonet can be reversed with 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 syllable count.

Spring Delights #TankaTuesday

Spring Delights

Open
all the windows
welcome the morning breeze
look at the pine branches
decked by tiny
cute guests.

They sing
rhythmically
flit in and out of leaves
dancing to the spring tunes
fill our hearts with
delight.

Perfect
time to step out
behold Mother Nature’s
awesome yellow attire –
fields of mustard
flowers.

#TankaTuesday – Synonyms only

Image from my patio

Time twinkles and glows
a fraction of an hour pauses
watch the spectacle!
the horizon celebrates
the design of hued twilight.

clouds vie with passion
steal the radiance of sky
momentary splash –
crafted by ardent artist,
articulating finesse.
