#Summer 24 Seasons… Challenge #Etheree

Summer Break

Cool 
breezy
summer break, 
sojourns we loved
to the foothills of
splendid Himalayas
that breathe a leisurely mood.
just sit and gaze at the snowcaps
of majestic mountains, far away
from the din of cities and scalding heat.

Memorable moments of renewal 
of love inadvertently buried
in the race of reaching the crest.
time to forget all the grudges
soak in blissful nature,
feel the summer vibes, 
hear the whisper
of pine trees
blend with 
clouds.

Kigo words: summer mood

Inspired from the prompt: “There’s something about the summer that makes me moody…”

An Etheree is a type of poem which consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Etheree can also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. So it is called a double Etheree.

draped in lustrous robes 
I merged with silvery sky
breeze ruffled my hair
ecstatic, I looked around
to ensure I was alive

monsoon clouds cloak me
joyful moments pause to view
when our dreams get wings
celestial artist unfolds

Thanks to Colleen’s weekly TankaTuesday challenge, which has inspired me to create a double tanka (poems based on color and weather) I chose silver, the color of the Greek goddess Artemis (Roman aspect: Diana). It is symbolic of purity, strength, clarity and focus. It also represents grace, sophistication, elegance, and glamor. In the spiritual and mystical world, silver also has associations with the moon, which has connections to feminine energy.

#Gratitude: Reminders

The tender touch of breeze
The soft sound of brook
Beautiful blossoms smiling
At the light and warmth of sun.

Happiness filtering through the trees
Moonlight streaming through my windows
Hope sprouting around me, every spring
The dusky sky, the merging hues of rainbow,

The warmth of my home
The mirth, the kindness, and
A steady drizzle of love
Seeping slowly into my soul.

The blessings of being alive,
The constant company of friends
Revered reminders of gratitude
Celestial moments of appreciation.

Assimilating the ache of setbacks
Embracing the hurricanes of life
Gratitude grants the serenity
To bounce back, to tap the infinite

To stumble upon and cherish
Those moments of endless joy
Those moments of togetherness
Sparkling on the sand of time.

treasures that still hold dreams
dare I discard them?

inspiration to ride on
colors of our choice

all were so precious
I chose the golden necklace
that speaks of our love

you keep all the stars
I cherish the bonding gold 
pervasive pleasure

the beads transport me
to the golden eon we shared
of sheer delight
