Blessings from Mother Nature!!!

the-truth-is-in-nature-paul-cezanne

As a child, I would often skip on the dusty paths, sit under my favorite tree and find great delight in the cooing of doves. Though a city bred child, I was always charmed by the countryside.

The breeze seemed so welcoming, the rain so fulfilling and running under the dripping trees, an adventure!

Following the ducks till they jumped into the pond to defeat our ventures of catching them was our pet past time! The simple joys that nature presented could be felt even at that tender age.

Mother Nature is more than just a mother! She makes us perceptive, patient and perseverant. The lessons we learn in her lap are more profound than modern research results.

“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.” ― John Lubbock

Nature inspires us to co-exist peacefully. It provides for all the organisms yet it has linked them in an amazing way. The life of seeds and animals and human beings intermingles in such a way that they depend on each other yet can thrive on their own.

CHANGE AND ADAPT

Seasons change, flowers bloom, spread their glory for a while and wither, trees shed their leaves, rivers change their course, the law of nature is…accept change and flow with the current. The setting sun leaves a message of hope for us…a new dawn.

CONTENTMENT AND SERENITY

The soothing effect of winter landscape, the healing touch of lush green meadows, the harmony of sunshine and clouds, playing hide and seek, the mesmerizing effect of slow falling rain are the natural lessons we learn from nature.

SPREAD HAPPINESS

Have you ever looked at the flowers, tossing their heads as if beckoning us to their side to share the smiles, the radiance and the colors they can lend to our gloomy days? We just need a discerning eye to pick up that message.

BE PATIENT

Have you noticed the pace of nature? The slow sprouting seeds, blooming of trees, the forming of fruits, the gentle entry of fall…all give us a lesson that if we wait patiently, all works well.

SOFT MUSIC

The first sounds of music come from Mother Nature… the whispering pines, the rustling of leaves, the waters gushing down the cascading streams, the gurgling waterfalls and myriad other sounds define real music. “The earth has music for those who listen.” ― George Santayana

SOOTHING TOUCH

The snow covered peaks, the winter sunshine, the first drops of rain, the dewdrops on the grass, the star studded sky, the moonlight streaming through the trees…they release you from all the anxieties and dilemmas. They are nature’s antidotes to ease our pain.

“There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” ― Rachel Carson

10 Reasons for Turning Work into Worship

Balroop Singh

Slide1
Work merges into worship here! At the height of 17586 ft, with prayer flags all around, Indian Army guarding the borders!

Work is worship…I had heard this dictum as a child in my art class, when we were told to write it artistically and paint it.

At that stage I was not able to grasp its meaning and kept asking my friends how could work become worship. They were as clueless as I was and soon we forgot about it.
The truth of this maxim started unfolding, as my observations grew sharper…
DEDICATION TO WORK:

Work is worship for the farmers who meet the first ray of the sun in their fields.

Work is worship for the homemakers who happily bustle about their family to attend to their needs, with love.

Work is worship for mothers whose world revolves around their children.

In modern, technology laded societies, work ethics have changed a bit but work remains worship for most of us.

Blessed is he who has found his work; let him ask no other blessedness”
–Thomas Carlyle

HOW WORK BECOMES WORSHIP:

Our work becomes worship if we love it, if we are eager to accomplish our goals and if we are willing to give our 100% at our work.

1. It is our work that introduces us to the world, makes us realize its significance in terms of earning our livelihood and engaging in some useful activity to keep us busy.

2.It gives us a direction.
3. It acquaints us with sincerity.

4. It defines our personality further.
5. It gives us an opportunity to meet various kinds of people, deepens our understanding and outlook.

6. It endears us to our bosses, whose sole purpose is to squeeze work out of us.
7. It may make us an envious entity, worthy of challenging competition.

8. It gives us a great sense of achievement and gratification.
9. It redefines religion and faith, if we are hazy about the concept.
10.It leads us to glory.

God speaks through our work:

If we work happily, without any moans, putting your heart and soul into it, God appreciates our efforts. We need not go to places of worship to please Him.

The rewards of such worship:

They come in the form of happiness, contentment and peace of mind. God exults at our efforts to keep the connection with Him through what he has assigned to us… our work.

KNOW SHADOWS

Somebody asked me: ‘How can shadows be emotional?’

I said: why not?

‘But shadows are always associated with darkness. They are the negative parts of our personality.’

I disagree, I said.

Aren’t there shadows that we see during the day? Can’t shadows be pleasing and alluring?

Can’t there be happy shadows?

My shadows have all the forms, hues and emotions attached to them. I have embraced all of them. For me, shadows are more of a metaphor. I look at the trees and their shadows evoke emotions of understanding spirituality…

One of my poems tries to define them though some of my shadows are profoundly emotional and distressing.

shadows KNOW SHADOWS

Shadows celebrate sunshine
Lift the gloom of those who pine.
Leave a message to emulate
Alter and adapt willingly.

Swaying shadows push you ahead
Ominous of stormy ways
Some self-made shadows swallow us
Emerge from our weaknesses that follow us.

Shadows sparkling on the sand
Show the sheen of life at hand
Is so transitory and simulated
Yet we follow them irrationally.

Some shadows are so celestial
They can make their own place
They merge into each other
With grandeur and grace.

Dark moonless nights
Are the nights I crave for…
All shadows vanish and merge
Into the corridors of life.
