always elusive –
is freedom an open book?
ask a butterfly
an embodiment of ease
it encases empowerment.

Freedom?

If your muse craves for inspiration
Tell her to tarry, to abandon her flight
And look at this book with a strange title: ‘Free Forever’
And ponder: is freedom an open book?
Is it a flowing river?

Within the raging battles
Of greed, of power, of control
Freedom comes with a price – it’s a ransom.
It demands every moment of our life,
Of our heart, our love, our soul.

It is so basic yet so elusive!
Can you trap the butterflies?
Can you capture the human spirit?
Only Mother Nature knows freedom
Only she knows how to survive.

Or wait for spiritual awakening,
A journey into the unknown
How do we know it grants freedom?
They say the soul transcends boundaries
Doesn’t it come back to the same world?

Thanks to Sadje for choosing an inspiring image for her #Whatdoyousee -300 challenge.

Thanks to Willow & Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to write a “Taiga.” A Taiga is similar to a Haiga, but with a tanka instead of a haiku.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

Fantasy Flight

Riding on the passion of writing
Yearning for the world of fantasy,
Of the land that’s free,
My muse escapes.

And I sit,
Searching for the doors
She slammed shut.

What am I without her?
A slave to her whims?
Holding words –
Meaningless without her magic.
But I know
She’ll return with new ideas.

The path waits, dark and quiet
Invisible memories meander,
Starry nights get darker,
Silent echoes connect us.

Her journey to the moon
Endows her with new wisdom –
Fantasy flights fraught with euphoria,
Lead us into lonely lands.
Human touch is the basic need,
Love and emotions keep us grounded.

Zodiac Color #Poetry Challenge #Tanka

My own image

I belong to the
magnitude of the sky and
the depth of oceans
I emit vibes of calmness,
trust, freedom and cohesion.
~~

Positivity
is my eternal message
learn balance from me.
My hues evoke divine link,
I understand emotions.
~~

Many mysteries
dwell in the bottom of blue
my heart beats with them
I enhance exploration,
my expanse is limitless.

Misty Spring

I live
on memories,
the whistling wind, the breeze,
the mist, the blooming trees
whisper your words
of love.

***

Today
the mist tarries
outside my French window
waving at me, gently
my heart misses
a beat.

***

One more
memory looms,
emerging from corners
beckoning me to sing
the song of bees
with glee.

Thanks to Selma and Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to write poetry that portrays movement. Poetry is a moving target; reality is always moving. Choose any syllabic form and write what’s on your mind. I chose a Badger’s Hexastich.

A Badger’s Hexastich is a poem of 6 lines with 2-4-6-6-4-2 syllables per line. It is unrhymed, with optional rising and falling end-words.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

My Smile #PicturePrompt – WDYS

My Smile

I may
sit and smile now
but you would never know
how I learnt to keep it
and breathe beams of
good cheer.

Weathered
by paths of strife,
singled by pains of life,
I’ve survived despite blows.
I symbolize
true life.

Changes
don’t touch me now
I’m immune to trials
bridges borrow my strength
lakes learn calmness
from me.

I am
epitome
of positivity
my smile just signifies
compliance with
karma.
