teary-eyed clouds burst
wind rides on the wings of nymphs
rain-drops dance with glee.

we soothe the parched earth
the sand rises up to greet us
a fleeting embrace.

Thanks to Robbie and Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to use personification in the form of our choice.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

#Summer #Heat 24 Seasons…

Growing heat grounds us
a cloudless sky is sizzling
elusive sea breeze

~

The longest heat wave
uncontrollable wildfires
A blazing summer

~

The ducks swim calmly
even the sun dives in
seeking some respite

No leaf is stirring
wind chimes are quiet today
blasé birds sit confused

~

A bizarre battle –
indignant Mother Nature
mankind is callous!

My Kigo words: Growing heat, wind chimes.

Dark #Winter

Pixaby image

Dark, windy winter
hisses like venomous viper
cold light casts shadows

***

cold clouds dominate
pine needles flutter fiercely
birds snuggle and hide

***

snowdrops hang on trees
fog envelops the valley
darkness draws nearer

***

sun has been eclipsed
Mother Nature shares sadness
mist hovers mutely

Kigo words that I chose for this challenge: cold light, cold clouds, snowdrops.

#Seasonal #Poetry

irksome muggy heat
bristles for sudden showers
oppressive August

***

dahlias toss their heads
scented breeze brings a message
we’re ready to go

***

carpenter bees buzz
some survive on sunflowers
fireflies mate and die

***

summer dresses match
colorful beach umbrellas
waves welcome surfers

***

summer sounds snug here
ocean fog flaunts amity
eternal allure

The Thunderbird – A legend

This week’s poetry challenge is extremely interesting. Though it is a photo prompt but I must confess that I didn’t know anything about this picture. Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to learn more while writing poetry.

The challenge is to write a syllabic poem using the photo for inspiration. “Delve deeper into the mythology behind the image,” says Colleen.

I chose to write a string of haiku.

a cultural pride
engraved on my mystic wings
an ancient grandeur

***

stories of clans ooze
out of my cedar carvings
blessed by natives

***

my wings hold power
producing thunderous sound
remnants of chagrin

***

I sound like thunder
when my powerful wings flap
lightning eyes shoot ire

***

fearsome to behold
I ward off evil spirits
but I seek heavens
