clouds meet with lightning
like an amorous partner
a wild rendezvous
whooshing wind whistles
heralds tropical monsoon
sun steps back with grace
silvery ribbons’
obeisance to Mother Earth
saturated soil
roads become rivers
in tune with the symphony
the night’s cloak darkens
dawn loses its colors
clouds reign with black and gray hues
a prolonged downpour

Thanks to Colleen and Melissa for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to write a Rensaku.
Rensaku is a Japanese form consisting of a linked sequence of haiku or tanka by a single author, focused on a unified theme or subject. Coined by Masaoka Shiki in the Meiji period, this “sequential composition” allows each stanza to remain independent while building a cohesive narrative.

Such a visual piece of writing!
Thank you Violet, I am glad my imagery is reaching out. 🥰
It’s started raining here, too, Balroop ji and everything you said in your poem is exactly how I see it…the sun bowing out gracefully, the whooshing wind whistling, the amorous meeting of the clouds and lighting. Your poem is beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Smitha. Watching rain in all its forms is an amazing experience. Each time, I write a different poem.
And the one you wrote this time was exactly like the rain I saw unfolding a few moments earlier at my end of the world😊❤️
Yes, whatever the part of this world, basics remain the same. 😊 The moon, the dawn and the dusk appear as beautiful as ever.
Balroop, this is a vivid, sensory piece capturing the raw intensity of a tropical monsoon. You balance the ‘wild’ energy of a storm with an elegant sense of ceremony- wonderful 💕
Thank you for such a lovely feedback, Ange. I am delighted to hear that. 🥰

I am honored! Thank you for your encouraging words, Selma.
I really enjoyed this poem and on first read, I like how there is that bit of a romantic vibe in the first part with words like “partner” and “rendezvous” and then how you slow us down with this “sun steps back with grace” and lead us into a different cllisng vibe. enjoyed this
Thank you Yvette. Thunder and lightning share a special relationship with the clouds – the trio has always fascinated me.
💚
Wow! Balroop, I was there in the midst of the tempest, at the ‘wild rendezvous;. A powerful and intoxicating poem which vividly transports us into the heart of the storm.
I am delighted to hear you could feel the storm, Annika. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words.
