#TankaTuesday: White Color

a symbol of love,
an epitome of grace,
a poised purity
of a spiritual bond
inseparable, white swans.
***

watch winter landscape –
a breath of palpable peace
clouds cede their power
wind tiptoes in harmony
Mother Nature is resting.
***

paradoxical
connotations of color
that symbolizes
spiritual awareness,
purity, death and mourning.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write color poetry. I chose white color, as I have already written poems focusing on orange, green, violet, silver, golden, red, green, blue

Today, the theme of each tanka is different.

Thank you poetry lovers!

  1. I love all of them, Balroop. “a breath of palpable peace” really captured that icy scene.

  2. Beautiful poems, Balroop. Swans are so graceful and yet they have paradoxes too… just like the significance of winter’s season, and the symbolism of white. Wonderful responses to the prompt.

    1. I have always been fascinated by swans, their white color and the way they appear in pairs. Songs and stories about their love enhances their respect in my heart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about my responses Diana.

    1. Thank you for your lovely words of encouragement Colleen, I am happy you like the connections. I refrained from writing about the widows who were expected to wear white, as highlighted by old movies. Much has changed though many still suffer silently.

      1. It’s interesting how the cultural elements play into these colors as well. Long ago in America, brides wore black, where now they wear whatever color (mostly white) they want. Those color perceptions still influence us.

  3. There’s a solemnity to your beautiful poem, Balroop, that leaves hints of heaven. 🤍
