Blue #Christmas #Poetry

This week, syllabic poetry writing invitation is to choose a kigo word or phrase from the seasonal kigo list or choose from the winter solstice or summer solstice category.

Caged by blue Christmas
I sit like a prisoner
bereft of all joys
shadows subjugate my thoughts
memories asphyxiate.

***

A dark, dreary day
reflections of Christmas cake
we baked together
harrowing winter solstice
devoid of festivities.

***

Grief is so grotesque
it captures your spirit
blocks all your senses
A snowy landscape looms up –
an unsurpassable trail.

Majestic moments
melt in the hourglass of time
tasseled gift of gold
gleams in the jubilant hearts
the pleasures of blissful life

Friends and fragrant air
grandeur of the evening glow
girls’ breezy banter
no greater felicity
than joyous togetherness

Celtic Tree Astrology #Poetry Challenge

ELDER – THE SEEKER
November 25 – December 23

Elder types tend to be freedom-loving and sometimes appear to be a bit wild compared to the other Celtic tree astrology signs. In younger years, you may have lived life in the fast lane and as a “thrill seeker”. You are often misjudged as an outsider as you have a tendency to be withdrawn despite your extroverted nature. You tend to be very considerate of others and genuinely strive to be helpful. These acts of assistance are sometimes thwarted by your brutal honesty. Elder signs fit well with Alder and Holly signs.

Celtic Tree Astrology

Celtic tree astrology – a fascinating world of wonder,
Of inexplicable celestial powers,
Expansive than our understanding
Extends an illusionary control –
Thrives on mere predictions
But life itself is unpredictable.
Though clouds of skepticism hover
Yet human interpretations abound.
I am “The Elder”
Amazingly, many of my traits match!

She prefers Freedom,
loves to fly with the fairies
always the seeker,
a perpetual giver
but misjudged for speaking truth

🌳 This week’s challenge is to find out what type of tree you are based on Celtic Tree Astrology! Find your tree sign HERE. 🌳

🌳 Then write a syllabic poem that incorporates your tree into the syllabic poem. Please copy your tree information on your post, so we can see which tree you are. 💚

🌳 Remember, if you write a freestyle poem, please add a syllabic poem to go with it.

Thank you Colleen, for another innovative challenge. I enjoyed the fun!

#TankaTuesday: White Color

a symbol of love,
an epitome of grace,
a poised purity
of a spiritual bond
inseparable, white swans.

watch winter landscape –
a breath of palpable peace
clouds cede their power
wind tiptoes in harmony
Mother Nature is resting.

spiritual awareness,
purity, death and mourning.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write color poetry. I chose white color, as I have already written poems focusing on orange, green, violet, silver, golden, red, green, blue

Today, the theme of each tanka is different.

Thank you poetry lovers!

The challenge this week is synonyms only. We have to select synonyms for: WORK and PLAY.

a chore warms my heart
when I look at a new mom
yearning for more sleep
a memory that reminds –
newborns arrive with no fun.

***

what a chore it was
to jump out of bed, to soothe
a crying baby
what fun to wake up new dad!
the mother in me laughs now.

***

pride shines in her eyes
when her baby walks a step
all chores abandoned
to watch and clap in delight
 an awesome moment of fun.

***

mom’s job never ends
an emotional anchor,
a supreme teacher,
unconditional lover
fun-creator bastion.

***

tigress who protects,
takes pride in giving them wings,
lets them fly for fun
never forgets to spell out
chores that are imperative.
