Zodiac Color #Poetry Challenge #Tanka

My own image

I belong to the
magnitude of the sky and
the depth of oceans
I emit vibes of calmness,
trust, freedom and cohesion.
~~

Positivity
is my eternal message
learn balance from me.
My hues evoke divine link,
I understand emotions.
~~

Many mysteries
dwell in the bottom of blue
my heart beats with them
I enhance exploration,
my expanse is limitless.

Sibling Love

Spontaneous love
delight of togetherness
hugs bring them closer.

***

Growing up is fun
in the shadow of siblings
who cherish values.

***

With consistent love,
they inherit little joys
and stay positive.

***

Two stars of parents
one is obdurate and tough
the other – gentle.

***

Always together,
attitudes may collide but
their love is subtle.

***

Competitive yet
proud of their older sibling
expectations mount.

***

Setting high standards
failure to reach that zenith
creates wide fissures.

***

How they drift apart
as they move ahead in life
does love disappear?

***

Unknown grudges creep in
childhood joys are forgotten
ego mentors some.

What Remains…#Poetry #WDYS

What Remains…

Clouds confer in the calm mirror
Of emerald lake
Is this house habitable?

They had seen happier times,
Watched winsome faces
Heard the squeals of delight.

When children converged by the lake
Their games charmed Mother Nature
Spellbound, she let the spring linger just for them.

Time robbed those carefree days
How fast did they grow!
From Kindergarten to High School.

The house grew quieter each day
As the youngsters flew away
In pursuit of their dreams.

Now autumn rests here
With her muted colors and limp leaves
Crimson couldn’t capture the fleeting joy.

Carved into the mirror of the lake
Are memories that march silently
Seen only by the clouds.

Misty Spring

I live
on memories,
the whistling wind, the breeze,
the mist, the blooming trees
whisper your words
of love.

***

Today
the mist tarries
outside my French window
waving at me, gently
my heart misses
a beat.

***

One more
memory looms,
emerging from corners
beckoning me to sing
the song of bees
with glee.

Thanks to Selma and Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to write poetry that portrays movement. Poetry is a moving target; reality is always moving. Choose any syllabic form and write what’s on your mind. I chose a Badger’s Hexastich.

A Badger’s Hexastich is a poem of 6 lines with 2-4-6-6-4-2 syllables per line. It is unrhymed, with optional rising and falling end-words.

Thank you for reading my poetry.

Whispers #Poetry #WDYS

Whispers

Moments walked by unseen,
their mirth locked within our hearts
We swing and see through the time mirror –
memorabilia that is dearer than life.

Who knows when life slipped away?
Whispers never betray.
Souvenirs sing of those days,
when smiles shimmered like rays.

When choices rested with us,
when clouds carried us far,
into their velvety windows
that were open from all sides.

When the echoes of our laughter
regaled the birds; they watched silently,
mystified by the thrill of the moment –
A moment that still whispers.

Promises pause to catch them
while they saunter by, knowing well
Their traces can never be wiped away
Like the fragrance of jasmine.
