Moon Magic

Mesmerized by the
sublime glory of the sky
of today’s moonlight,
the dark crevices of my heart
embraced the magic of hope.

“We ran as if to meet the moon.” –Robert Frost

He told us about
the first fragrance of seasons,
the soaring spirits,
the lovers who pine alone,
how blissful is solitude!

Fantasy Flight

Riding on the passion of writing
Yearning for the world of fantasy,
Of the land that’s free,
My muse escapes.

And I sit,
Searching for the doors
She slammed shut.

What am I without her?
A slave to her whims?
Holding words –
Meaningless without her magic.
But I know
She’ll return with new ideas.

The path waits, dark and quiet
Invisible memories meander,
Starry nights get darker,
Silent echoes connect us.

Her journey to the moon
Endows her with new wisdom –
Fantasy flights fraught with euphoria,
Lead us into lonely lands.
Human touch is the basic need,
Love and emotions keep us grounded.

In Wilderness

Unknown paths don’t scare me now. A forest feigns a comforting arm, trees tantamount to companions with a difference and hours seem to stand still. Am I drifting into eremitism? Far away from the madness of the world, from the conflicting views of the mighty and the powerful, from the digital devices that are worse than termites, I wander in the wilderness, wondering when I will find a better place.

A little darkness
A little light – both allure
unpredictable.

When You Were Here #WDYS #Poetry

When You Were Here…

Together we sat here as young lovers
I remember how my heart fluttered for you.

Together we sat here, eager to know each other
I remember the first blush on your coy face.

Together we sat here, holding hands
I adored the tinkle of your vernal voice.

Together we sat here, sharing jokes
Your laughter blended with the songs of nature.

Together we sat here, clasping time in our hands
The thrill of your promises warmed my heart.

Together we sat here, entangled in the vows of love
Even the birds sang songs of our passion.

Together we sat here, immersed in our dreams
I remember how you inspired me to go ahead.

Together we sat here, thinking we were made for each other
You smiled and concurred you never had any doubts.

I remember the surreal symphony of our thoughts
Your love was like wind chimes that completed us.

And now I sit alone, adrift, trying to hear those echoes
I know you live here, I know you’re waiting.

The Flowers #WDYS #Poetry Challenge

The Flowers

The flowers I had brought
Whisper the story of our love,
fading into the hazy surroundings.

The day long wait crumbled,
Hope  melted at the western horizon
Forgiveness floundered at the altar of ego.

One last promise
Lay crumpled before me,
as I walked home with weary steps.

I left the flowers on our grave,
On the parapet that stood witness
to innocent passion and fiery flames.

The mirage drifted away.
A canopy of clouds
Guided my way.
