Looking Beyond

Looking beyond the roadblocks

Our path may lead us to make us unique
Yet we have to bridge that distance
To find our sacred space
A space that springs solace
So that the weary traveler finds a place
To rejuvenate, to reflect, to race…

The roadblocks may scare us
Yet we have to revive
The art of wisdom within
The light, the insight, which only gleams
When our heart aligns with our head

We learn to see beyond little achievements
We learn to know ourselves
We discover the harmony only
To fathom the depth of our aspirations
Our dreams, which lingered…

If they have waited behind the drapes
Are they worth pursuing?
We need to ponder…
If they couldn’t ignite the light within
Are they pertinent at twilight?

When afterglow lingers long…
The emotional capital that demands debt
The fading glow that yearns for upsurge
The frozen emotions that crave to thaw
The weary eyes that ache to sleep!

Sleep…the eternal bliss, the only antidote
Sleep…the delightful dreamy domain
Of all apprehensions, of all detachments
Sleep…the inevitable reality of life!

I’ll wake up in another land… of hopes
I look forward to living again
This time with renewed fervor and freedom
Promising myself to follow unfulfilled aspirations.

The Room…A Cherished Memory

That dark dusty room, always closed
With no chinks to peep inside
Children of the house often conspired
To enter, to explore… but how?

Everyday they made new plansold-world-rustic-wooden-door-with-bolts-and-padlock-399x600
Waited patiently to steal the keys
What would be the right time?
To give shape to their adventure!

Would it ever be possible?
With grandma keeping a close eye,
Supervising all the time
All the happenings of the day.

The room was right in the middle
Difficult to sneak in
Even during long afternoons
Or late at night which was scary!

Little Lovely had a plan
To enter one Sunday
But who would steal the key
From that dreaded drawer!

No child had an access to that drawer
None of them had ever dared
To defy the orders of the house
To keep away from the keys!

Who would listen to those orders?
When the promises of exploring
Guided the dreams of each other
When outshining was the sole aim!

With key already in her pocket
Little Lovely had already accomplished
The first step and proved
She was the smartest of the bunch!

The day was not far
The day all would be busy
With the celebrations of Sonu’s birthday
That was the planned day!

Sonu was told to keep company
Since he was the apple of their eye
The family would hardly notice
The pranks of missing children.

Curiosity drove Sonu away
From the venue of preparations.
Grandma couldn’t contain her worry
She alerted everyone!

The dark room was already open
All the children busy
Engrossed in their long awaited adventure
They were quite fearless!

All the trunks already open
All the pictures bare,
Loud voices, long discussions
Could be heard far!

Unaware of being watched
The children made plans
They needed more days to sneak,
More hours to explore!

The family elders watched amused
None of them balked
The children were given free access
To open the room everyday!

Sound That Resounds…And Guides

Sound that resounds

I could hear that sound
So familiar, so conversant
Stifled within me,
Smothered by visceral eyes

I could hear that sound
Coercing me to respond, to shake off
The primitive touch… tearing off
My spirit, my confidence, my vivacity

I could hear that sound
The fire crackling within me
The flames consuming my esteem
Shrieking… suffocation is excruciating

I could hear that agony
Imploring me to rise, to react
Reminding me of my resolve
To live with dignity, dauntless

I can no longer snub that sound
That inner voice, my mentor
My only benefactor, cautioning me
Not to die of asphyxiation

I can no longer wait for droplets
Of that heavenly nectar
Pretense is peeping through
That cloak of compassion

I can no longer remain insignificant
Your harrowing hauteur is oppressive
Forgive me for finding my own avenues
My gratitude goes to my spirit.
