Magical Wings
trapped by boundaries
I watch from the window panes
waiting for a while,
a mild moment of respite
can anyone curb my dreams?
***
my magical wings
flutter despite the wild storms
don’t dare to touch them
they emit embers unseen,
unimaginable gift!

Thanks to Melissa and Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. The challenge this week is to look through the window and write a tanka, expressing your thoughts and feelings.

magical are your words. They speak to my wings for sure. Thanks dearly.
Thank you so much, Selma. I’m delighted to hear that.
I especially love the first stanza, with its layered meanings. Am I trapped by boundaries? Is the butterfly? I like the word choice in “curbing dreams.”
Butterfly is just a metaphor here. Thanks for understanding the depth of my words, Melissa. 🤗
