Litchi
Sweet and delicious,
exotic tropical fruit,
harvested in June.
remove the outer cover,
savor the juicy delight.
***
She’s the queen of fruits,
rich in antioxidants,
subtle aroma,
and delectable flavor
what a unique summer charm!

Yum! I have only ever enjoyed them once but it was a treat I have never forgotten.
Yum is the right word to describe it, as it is more than a fruit, Violet. Thank you.
I’ve never had litchi! They look so exotic. I love all fruit so, I know I would enjoy them. Are they served as a dessert, or do you eat them as a snack? I enjoyed this poetic introduction to litchi. Thanks, Balroop. 💜
If it was up to me—I’d eat them all the time ! 😁
I agree!
It is a delicious fruit, can be eaten just like we eat cherries, any time. It can be added to smoothie to give it a different flavor. It is added to desserts in various ways. It’s only available in June and early July.
I’m glad you liked my favorite fruit poetry, dear friend. Alas! I haven’t eaten it since I came here.
Litchi is my favourite fruit! You poem is delicious 😋
Thank you Lesley. You seem to have a sweet tooth!
Lovely poem Balroop.
It makes me want to go and buy some Litchi 🤗
Thanks Maggie.
My pleasure Balroop
Lovely.
Thank you Cindy.
Lovely ode to litchi.
Thank you Sadje.
You’re welcome my friend
While I have only had this fruit a few times in my life, it IS tasty!
I am glad you’ve tasted it Annette. It is a rare delight in this part of the world.
Beautiful poem, Balroop, but I’ve never tried this fruit. I’ll have to now. 🙂
Not available here. Some people bring it from Hawaii but it is grown more in North India and China.
Very nice Balroop! Such a lovely poem for this delicious fruit. I had a hard time first with Litchi but it’s now one of my favorite too!
May you have a sweet day Balroop.
I’m glad you like it now. Thank you, Marie. Have a wonderful day.
sounds delicious, Balroop. Never tried this fruit!
Yes, it is delicious. It’s not available in the stores here, Denise.
I have never tried it but it sounds good.
Makes my mouth water. ❤
Sweet poem about a sweet fruit, Balroop. Correct me if I’m wrong, but litchi is the same as lychee… well I’m looking at your lovely photo and I see lychee 😄 I remember eating it a lot all year round when I lived in South-East Asia. Sweet and refreshing. Happy Summer to you, Balroop 😊
You are right, Mabel. It’s the same that we’ve been eating since childhood. I’m glad you like it. Thanks for coming over to read this fun poem.
Thank you Balroop for reminding me of a childhood fruit. It brings back memories. Lychee isn’t as accessible here in Australia 😂 Enjoy your Summer 😊
I hear you Mabel. Such memories warm our hearts. 😊
A delightful poem, Balroop. I like litchi. It’s not easy to find here, but my mom would look for it and when she found it, it was always a treat.
Thank you Diana. Yes, we can’t find this exotic fruit here. Also, it is seasonal.
My uncle had a litchi tree when he lived in Miami. My mom (and uncle) grew up in Indonesia, so it was a treat for her to visit and enjoy them.
There are many litchi orchards in the hilly areas of North India and it is a delight to visit them in the season to enjoy fresh fruit.
❤
Litchis are fun to eat. My mom loved litchis and we had loads of litchis when we were in Mumbai. Big, sweet, juicy ones. So many memories associated with this fruit :). Lovely poem, Balroop ji.
Thank you Smitha. I was just playing with memories. I’m glad you too have some associated with this lovely fruit.
Wonderful, Balroop. I’ve never eaten litchi, but I will search for them now. After reading your poem, I am intrigued and want to taste them. Yummy! 🌞
Oh! you must taste it if you get a chance, Gwen. It is delicious. Thank you.
🤗
Beautifully done, Balroop! Sorry to say, but I’m not very keen about litchis, even though they are grown in South Africa!
Is it the taste or the size that dissuades you from enjoying this fruit? There is a technique to eat litchis. 😊
As far as I remember, it’s the taste, but it’s a while. I think I should have another go. 😊
Probably they were not ripe and ready to eat because they are very sweet.
I love Litchis and your poem 💜💜
Thanks Willow. 🤗
A pleasure 💜💜
Wow beautifully done poem Balroop. Who would not love to eat Litchis. Thanks.
Thank you Kamal.
Always welcome dear Balroop 😊🙏
