#Shadorma 24 #Seasons…

Sweltering Heat

Blazing sun,
unrelenting heat 
festivals
of summer
don’t allure me any more
sunscreens are irksome.

we all wait
for the winds to change
sit indoors 
and enjoy  
soft peaches and nectarines
the only delight!

summer naps
lonely afternoons
my muse nudges 
to write more
poems about moonlit nights
supreme self-comfort!

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. I’ve written a string of Shadorma. My Kigo words have been highlighted.

A Shadorma consists of a six-line stanza (or sestet). Each stanza is written as 3-5-3-3-7-5 for a total of 26 syllables with no set rhyme scheme. When writing a Shadorma, concentrate on a specific subject. Shadorma needs a title.

#Summer #Sea Breeze 24 Seasons…

Sea Breeze

when
heat rouses
sea fairies,
they weave a web
of magic and come  
riding on the strings of
misty breeze that tranquilizes.
smoldering heat takes a back seat
summer transforms within a moment
that’s the perk of residing near the sea.

the cocoon of midsummer darkness cracks
wind whistles around the closed windows
bird songs can be heard each morning
even willows sway softly.
we walk by leisurely
landscapers enjoy 
cutting the grass
fragrance charms
the sea
nymphs.

An Etheree is a type of poem which consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Etheree can also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. So it is called a double Etheree.

Kigo phrases: smoldering heat, midsummer darkness, cutting the grass.

First fun
of June summer:
juicy mango delight,
the favorite fruit of children.
orchards
receive little brats, seeking thrill
of gathering fresh fruit –
a gallant game
of friends.

to watch
