A Sonnet has always scared me, I’ve never tried to write it. Then I came across ‘Blason.’ (Thanks to Colleen and her gang of poets in the blogosphere.)

A Blason is a genre of poetry committed to the praise or blame of something through the use of a series of images that support the theme. Blason can be applied to any verse form such as the Sonnet or Blank Verse.

I’ve tried to write a Blason, which was a three-dimensional challenge: as I had to keep in mind 10 syllables in each line, follow the theme and also write 14 lines.

Is it Love?

His love is like fire burning in hearth
His hands are nothing less than hot iron.
His arms clasp tight like a docile python
His  touch mesmerizes in an instant.
He stands tall, towering over my face
Looking as if he would devour my lips.
His smile is like satan’s putrid profile
Yet his love for me glows like fresh embers.
As I smolder in his gripping embrace
He speaks in syllables that exude lust.
The promises he makes sound ambrosial
His expectations higher than heavens
But I admire his celestial visage
I know my allure for him sounds bizarre.

Thank you Colleen, for the inspiration to respond to an image by writing syllabic poetry.
