#Poetry Challenge #SyllabicPoetry – Tanka

Dry grass, witchy wind
no rainy season in sight
wildfires danger scares
firefighters soldier on,
despite untold health hazards.

***

As the monsoon lands
grandeur of green leaf shade swells,
fun flutters in ponds
paper boats beguile children
silvery sky seems sublime.

***

First firefly allures,
emits a magical light
and spreads friendly vibes
sparkling fellows join the joy
evenings become delightful.

#TankaTuesday 24 Seasons…

Summer brings mixed zing,
clear skies and mundane sunsets
piercing sun rays sting.
how tropical heat oppresses
just ask the paddy planters

***

days become pythons
pernicious heat wave spirals
sweltering hours crawl
loneliness enshrouds snugly
unheard screams reverberate.

#TankaTuesday #Summer

Diablo hills from my window

My hazy window
blurred by mist of memories
and motley motifs
fails to inspire somber muse
even bird songs sound mournful.

***

fragrance of summer,
dusk in the garden beckons
I hear your whispers:
yonder is the light – go, go
we’ll meet at the horizon.

***

blazing summer sun
hammers on velvety grass
smoldering swiftly
Diablo hills look ashen
just like my afflicted heart.

#Summer… 24 Seasons Challenge…

Love Messages

beyond
the summer moon,
carried by the south wind
lanterns carry my emotions
that hold
a thousand carved messages of love,
of spirited summers,
of our blissful
sojourns.

***

Masking
my intense pain
behind a shallow smile
I liberate lanterns of love
sharing
the fragrant breeze of last goodbye
in midsummer darkness
that declines to
dwindle.

***

I sob
cuckoo bird sings
the answers cascade down
miraculously, through young leaves
summer
promises winds of positive change
will the fireflies dance?
didn’t they die?
with you.

Morning chill clutches me
despite the sun’s golden glow
purple hues don’t melt.
seasons change, young leaves flutter
I still wait at the window

***

bleeding bit by bit
a cracked heart treasures moments
of joyous summer
that would never come again
smoky clouds echo my thoughts.

***

fragrant breeze billows
fallen petals prophesize
smothering summer.
a thousand poems won’t soothe
incisive ache of my heart.
