Idyllic Hours

Calmness, peace

Oh! The bliss of leisure
Long hours lengthen,
Crumble at your feet!
All the time in the world…
 
To look at the sky,
Feel the movement of clouds
Inhale the magic of raindrops!
Soar smoothly with the rainbow!
 
Sunset colors gently wane
Sprinkling on you, numerous tones
Swooshing leaves whisper weird words
Flowers dance with you as you gaze 
 
Butterflies lend their color to your dreams
Happiness and harmony in your eye gleams
Birds sing sweeter with joy
Earnest to share their melody
 
Oh! The blissful sounds of nature
Sink deeper into your heart
Give eternal elation
All anxiety melts away.

Pain…My Antidote

Nearer to thee, my pain
Nearer to thee…Pain
Now I have embraced you,
Conquered you!
You have become my antidote,
You can no longer break my spirit,
You were my constant companion,
Now I have befriended you,
Made you my dearest confidant

You have always mothered me,
Rocked me, pushed me around
Sometimes pricked me
In the form of a sibling,
Made fun of me,
Challenged my capabilities
Many times you have
Surrounded me with
Selfish, self-centered,
Incompetent, insecure people.
You have flattered me
In the form of fair weather friends.

You have made me suffer in silence.
As a child, I could not confront you
But growing with you
Emboldened me, enriched my life,
Made me realize
You cannot even touch my soul.
I have emerged stronger,
Kinder, perceptive, forgiving
To embrace you with all the humility.

Pangs Of Change

Relationships never endRelationships
They take a new turn,
They move on…
Each relationship suffers
The pangs of inadvertent change

Change we all like yet distrust
A change initiated by us,
By our own loved ones
For those who grow dearer…
Forgetting former bonds

New perspectives, newer attitudes
Lead to shrinking of close ties
A slice of life drifts away
When they try to hide
What their voices betray

A heart-wrenching abyss of estrangement
Forms unintentionally
Long nurtured ties weaken
As people around you seem to change
Confused, you too may falter!

The hypocrisy of endearing words
Becomes hard to swallow
When the true emotions have melted
A look of disbelief, lingers
A stoic acceptance, the only choice!

Ah! the amiable attribute of acceptance
It calms all the emotions and keeps us grounded!

Learning To Smile

I hate to say I miss youlearning to smile
No tears can ever stream down.
These eyes now look at the sky
They find delight in your flight
Your smiling image looms large,
Tears recede instinctively.

Yet those promises haunt, hurt
I know you have forgotten them
I know you would never return
Your flight is beyond my reach.
Your selflessness, a far-fetched dream
Should I regret trusting my instincts?

If I ever meet you again
I’ll just look at your eyes
I will try to smile…
Smile and savor the moment
But we ‘ll live in our own world
A world devoid of anxiety and acrimony

The love that I hold in my heart
May have faded from your memory
Yet I treasure those mirthful moments
Of raising you with a smile
Of giving you wings to fly
You will forever be my dearest child.
