When We Walked… #WDYS #PhotoPrompt

When We Walked on the Railroad

What lay beyond was alluring
So we walked on the railroad track
Despite the warnings:
Mountains on the left,
River on the right,
A speeding train could knock us off!
But what lay beyond was irresistible.

Nothing deterred us
Uneven surfaces, narrow shoulder,
Only trees to hang on
if a hooting train comes
On the track we walked on.

We met many people
As adventurous as us,
Some with little children
on their shoulders,
Curious to see the beauty
of Mossbrae Falls,
Wondering
Why is there no better approach?

“Look out for the train -”
A refrain reverberated.
After a trek of forty five minutes
A breezy, soft spray of water
greeted us.

We saw the most stunning falls,
So different, falling like silvery ribbons.
Here, the river is shallow
Serenity seesaws with its rhythmic tone.

Mesmerized by
the symphony of surroundings
Enthralled by
the message of silent breeze
We embraced the magic of moments.

No train passed by
But wait, it did come minutes later
With its ear-shattering hooter
As we were walking toward the car parking.

Listed as the top attraction of Dunsmuir,
The access to Mossbrae Falls is officially closed now
Until a safe, legal trail is created.

Moments that Echo

Grandma clicked this picture
How many moons ago
I don’t know.

What I know is that she
Captured the joy of the moment,
the love that could never fade,
the beaming faces, the stars in the eyes,
the eternal hug – sibling bonding etched forever.

Royal robes of Mother Nature
fluttered in the fall breeze
Dad stood behind us,
Could there be a better symbol
of childhood innocence and parental pride?

Ah! How that love melts!
Time dust turns into rust;
The coating gets thicker each day,
Echoes of longing refuse to subside
as I look at this precious picture.

Truth?

Shadows sway near them, blurring boundaries
Moments of betrayal bleed,
foggy windows don’t lie.

In a trance, I watch how flimsy is trust
how relationships wither
on obscure paths of love.

The definition of deceit is vague,
clouded by lies of judgment
truth holds various hues!

Your truth crouches behind the man you chose
My truth is so translucent
Yet it is soaked in blood.

Mist of Time

Mist, my trusted pal,
In and around me, soothing my nerves,
Calming my emotions,
Transforming me into a kite in the clouds.

When giggles gave us an extra bounce
When joy bubbles burst with our footsteps
When a walk in the rain was thrilling
When puddles waited for our feet.

The magic of rain drove us out
With our precious paper boats
Tears of trees landed on our heads
As the hugs of Mother Nature welcomed us.

The mist of time swallowed those hours
Treasured memories never fade
Moments beckon through my picture window
I re-live them through my grandsons.

Our Sanctuary

The kheer is simmering
Dance and music makes it sweeter
Each time I stir it with love,
My feet tap the tiled floor.
This kitchen welcomes food lovers.

Friends meet here
More for weekly chat and laugh
This is our sanctuary
That absorbs our pains.
This kitchen is for dancing.

Dancing to ward off negativity
Dancing to add charm to weary hours
Dancing to convert chores into love
The facade that many women wear
And spend half their life in kitchens.
