Dark, windy winter
hisses like venomous viper
cold light casts shadows

cold clouds dominate
pine needles flutter fiercely 
birds snuggle and hide

snowdrops hang on trees
fog envelops the valley
darkness draws nearer

Caged by blue Christmas
I sit like a prisoner
bereft of all joys
shadows subjugate my thoughts
memories asphyxiate.

A dark, dreary day
reflections of Christmas cake
we baked together
harrowing winter solstice
devoid of festivities.

Grief is so grotesque
it captures your spirit
blocks all your senses
A snowy landscape looms up –
an unsurpassable trail.

Lost in doleful alley

Snow

I am swept off by the north wind, grappling to find a foothold, wishing you could hold me one more time. The cold clutch of gloom drags me along the first snow of the season. Powerless, I look at those who offer weary words. Draping your memories around me, I stare at the clock that refuses to chime.

My world is dreary 
I am enshrouded by snow
snow queen’s lullaby
buries me deeper into 
the obscurity of time.

While I am floundering in the sea of grief, I owe gratitude to all my blogger buddies for their kind words of solace. My clock has been standing still but I am trying my best to get back to blogging. Thank you.

Just One Goodbye

Drenched in melancholic robes, I wander alone
Stormy skies refuse to open up
Silent shrieks tear me apart
Darkness gnaws at my mind
Dragging me into the alleys we walked together.

I’ve always advocated self-solace
I didn’t know it is so elusive
I can’t find even a streak of light
There is no way out of this cavern
That has swallowed me.

Hope flew away with you
Home is not warm anymore
A yawning stillness snaps at me
As I wait… wait for you
How could you leave me in this abyss?
This is not your way.

I look at the door
Wishing it could open one more time
I yearn for one more smile,
One more hug
I promise I’ll let you go
Just let me say goodbye.
