Sibling Love
Spontaneous love
delight of togetherness
hugs bring them closer.
***
Growing up is fun
in the shadow of siblings
who cherish values.
***
With consistent love,
they inherit little joys
and stay positive.
***
Two stars of parents
one is obdurate and tough
the other – gentle.
***
Always together,
attitudes may collide but
their love is subtle.
***
Competitive yet
proud of their older sibling
expectations mount.
***
Setting high standards
failure to reach that zenith
creates wide fissures.
***
How they drift apart
as they move ahead in life
does love disappear?
***
Unknown grudges creep in
childhood joys are forgotten
ego mentors some.

Simply beautiful! Such a heartfelt poem. 💕
Thank you.
A beautiful series
Thank you, Selma.
I love how your series moves beautifully from warmth to wistfulness, Balroop. That final turn toward ego and distance adds a poignant emotional depth.
~David
Thank you for understanding the emotional depth, David. I appreciate your insights.
Beautiful Balroop .
Thank you, Maggie.
My pleasure Balroop.
Hi Balroop, a beautiful poem. I can relate to this as my youngest sister has become quite estranged from the family. It is her own choice.
Hi Robbie, I am sorry to hear that. Sisters are so precious. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
💚
Lovely, Balroop. I easily related it to my three sisters and the inner dynamics.
Yes, some facts are universal! Thank you for coming over to read, Gwen. I appreciate your support.
A beautiful journey through the years of growing up with siblings!
Thank you for your kind words, Jan.
It’s like a journey isn’t it Balroop! I like the start, your poetry is showing the special bond of siblings growing up. Sometimes it lasts a lifetime, sometimes as you well penned it, ego makes a mess and it’s hard to rebuild the link.
You’ve put it so succinctly, Marie. Yet this bond is so precious and remains so even when ego tries to step in. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
A lovely heart-felt poem about siblings. I have two surviving brothers and love them dearly. We don’t always see eye to eye, but we always have each other’s back. In some ways we have become closer as we have grown older. (Even though far apart in geographical distance)
I agree with you Darlene. We do become closer as responsibilities lessen and we have more free time to interact. We also learn to ignore the negative sides and laugh off their idiosyncrasies. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
How true to life are these poems Balroop. Beautiful poetry
Thank you Sadje, I am glad you liked them. I retrieved your comment from spam and therefore the late reply.
You’re very welcome.
Great poem, Balroop! For my sister and me, it was the opposite. We had our struggles in our teens but we are closer than ever now.

My brother is bossy, and still is but my sister has always respected and loved us unconditionally. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Yvette.
Relationships evolve over time, for better or worse. I never had a sibling but friends who do often seem to have a love/hate relationship and yet seem to always be there for each other when it matters…💞Suzanne
So true! Thank you for coming over to read and share your thoughts, Suzanne.
These are beautiful, Balroop, and I felt the shift from beginning to end. I have two older sisters (10 & 11 years older), but even with the age difference, we’ve stayed close all these years. I’m grateful for them. 💕
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Lauren. Sisters are always fun.
Balroop, what a fabulous series! You told a poignant story of two siblings. I think you did a wonderful job sharing the oposing views! 💖

This is so poignant, Balroop. It reflects my own sibling relationships . Beautifully written 💖

I’m glad I did. Much enjoyed 🌼
🤗🥰
Beautiful, Balroop, and the progression from childhood innocence to adult distance was poignant and sad. An emotional series, my friend.
Thank you dear Diana. Your kind words give a boost to my creative spirit.
Such a sad state of affairs when siblings rival. You tell it so truthfully.
Thank you Violet. 🥰
Great poem… Sad truth of life family does not always prevail 💙💙
True! Thanks Willow.
💜💜💜
That is why they are called siblings and love for each other at all times. Such a beautiful poem Balroop 😊🙏😊
