#Poetry – Theme prompt: 24 Seasons

Yellow Gold

Finally, my muse pulled me out of self-imposed exile and took me far away into the large fields of sunflowers. Thousands of smiles greeted me, as I watched with glee, my heart woke up to embrace positivity floating in the air. Each yellow petal – a panacea for grieving hearts; a pertinent reminder of joy; a paragon of light that reignites the urge to live.

childhood charm rebounds
petal games we loved to play –
innocent pleasure.
little knowing the value
of golden glow that’s divine.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry.

The challenge this week is to write Tanka or Tanka prose with the kigo word ‘Sunflower.’

  1. NO wonder Van Gogh painted one of his beautiful paintings of Sunflowers.

also no wonder they lit a light in you, dear Balroop.

    Miriam 🌻🤗.

  2. This is a gorgeous tanka prose, especially “joy… light… that reignites the urge to live, Balroop! I love the thousands of smiling sunflowers.

      1. You didn’t miss anything, Balroop! We were busy with the grandkids all summer. The younger grandkid goes to preschool but we help to watch the older one. A lot of driving, preparing things for her to do to cut down the screen time…

  3. Glad to see that you answer to your muse call Balroop. This is just a charming and beautiful poem that you are sharing today. Really enjoy reading it!
