Sweltering Heat
Blazing sun,
unrelenting heat
festivals
of summer
don’t allure me any more
sunscreens are irksome.
***
we all wait
for the winds to change
sit indoors
and enjoy
soft peaches and nectarines –
the only delight!
***
summer naps
lonely afternoons
my muse nudges
to write more
poems about moonlit nights
supreme self-comfort!

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. I’ve written a string of Shadorma. My Kigo words have been highlighted.
A Shadorma consists of a six-line stanza (or sestet). Each stanza is written as 3-5-3-3-7-5 for a total of 26 syllables with no set rhyme scheme. When writing a Shadorma, concentrate on a specific subject. Shadorma needs a title.

A wonderful poem, balroop to wait for the gifts of coolness❣️
Thank you Cindy. Yes, July has been a scorcher this year.
You’re so very welcome! Especially there❣️
I relate to that first one! My country fair just ended, and I certainly didn’t want to go in the heat! I agree about sunscreen. Necessary, but messy stuff. The second poem brings back memories of my peach tree. Warm ripe peaches. The tree died.
Thank you for standing by and sharing your thoughts Lisa. Summer heat is indeed relatable!
Beautifully written Balroop. 😍
Thank you Sadje.
You’re most welcome
Beautiful. Stay cool.
Thank you Cindy.
Beautiful poem , Balroop. I especially love the last stanza. I guess we long for sun so much in the North that it is welcomed . 🤗❤️
Miriam
Thank you Miriam. Sun is most generous in this part of the globe.
Beautiful, Balroop! I am eager for the cool fall. Xo
Yes, eagerly waiting for the season to change. Thanks for stopping by Denise.
Writing IS a superpower!
Sure! So true. Thanks Annette.
A beautiful poem Balroop. So well composed
Thank you Kamal.
love the variety here. Just gorgeous. Sunscreen is irksome indeed. Best to stay indoors and enjoy peaches and nectarines indeed.
listen to the muse, Balroop she knows what you need. Bless you my dearest. 🤗
Thank you so much Selma, for your generous words of encouragement. Love and hugs.
HI Balroop, these poems are incredibly vivid. I must admit, I’ll take heat over cold any day.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Robbie.🤗
Welcome Balroop 🤗
Great poems, Balroop! Nectarines definitely feel like a reprieve from the heat as you bite down into them.

Thank you for standing by to read and appreciate my poetry, Yvette.
Balroop, beautiful poems and ones that many can relate to the exhaustion of the summer heat. Luckily not bothered by this in England so far. I like how you introduce the peaches and nectarines – you have my taste buds ready to eat some!
Yes, summer delights are delicious! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely words Annika.
All 3 poems exquisite. The summer sun and heat gets tiresome and we withdraw from it to the cool evenings. The soft fruit so juicy, nourishing, and refreshing!
Thank you Lisa. Weather in our area changes within a day! Today it’s just 67 degrees, 30 degrees down within two days!
You’re welcome, and wow!
I love this Balroop, for the first time this year we are experiencing real heat( for us) so your words resonate 💜💜👌
Thank you for standing by to share your thoughts Willow. 🥰
Always a pleasure to visit your blog 💜💜
Balroop, your poetry is always so fun to read! Maybe the summer heat will start moving toward autumn. I know I’m ready. We’ve had plenty of heat, humidity, and rain this summer. 💖
Thank you so much Colleen, your challenges keep me going. 🤗
I’m so happy to hear that, Balroop. Thank you. You made my day with such a lovely comment. Sending you love and hugs. 💗
These are great, Balroop! And -yes- sunscreens really are annoying! 😀
~David
Thanks David.
The heat really does take the fun out of summer sometimes. But there is that fruit, and those balmy (though lonely) nights. I love your poetry. ❤
Thank you dear friend, I agree with your thoughts. WordPress is forgetting you, as it considers your comments as spam!
Reading this post, I could feel it speaks strongly of summer. I like this line, ‘sunscreens are irksome’. Sunscreens protect against the sun but finding the right sunscreen that works for you and feels good can be so difficult. Keeping out of the sun is one way to keep cool, though sometimes inside can also be a bit too warm. It is winter here in Australia and I cannot wait for summer warmth. Hope you have been well, Balroop. Great poetry as usual 😊
All seasons have their own charm and we get excited to welcome them in the beginning. Thank you for coming over after a long break. Your thoughts are always appreciated.
