Growing heat grounds us
a cloudless sky is sizzling
elusive sea breeze
~
The longest heat wave
uncontrollable wildfires
A blazing summer
~
The ducks swim calmly
even the sun dives in
seeking some respite
~
No leaf is stirring
wind chimes are quiet today
blasé birds sit confused
~
A bizarre battle –
indignant Mother Nature
mankind is callous!

What a stunning photo!! Balroop, I enjoyed your summer haiku. The heat has been brutal everywhere. We’re getting the rain from Hurrican Beryl, right now. We’ve already had a couple of inches since yesterday. 💜
Thanks Colleen. Enjoy the good weather.
One of the 3 battles.. man vs nature
And nature wins each time!
Oh! Balroop these verses are an exercise in sweltering heat your words and photo convey it so well 💜
Thank you Willow, the wildfires here, in this freak weather are a big concern!
It’s a serious problem these days 💜
So true!
💜🌞
wonderful poem , Balroop. I enjoy it all and find smiles and depth.
This quote from one stanza shows the heat but also is so funny. The photo bears your words out.
“even the sun dives in
seeking some respite “.
🤗❣️
Thanks Miriam. Sometimes the sun also needs a respite… just a crazy thought to match with the indifference of mankind.
This is delightful, Balroop, and this line made me chuckle aloud! 😀
Much love,
David
Ah, “this mankind,” I like it.
Thanks for coming over to read and share your thoughts.
Mankind is indeed very callous. A very poignant set of poems
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Sadje.
You’re welcome
Hi Balroop, it seems to be very hot everywhere in the USA currently. The UK is having a wet summer.
You are right Robbie. Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts.
My pleasure, Balroop.
Perfectly describes same in this neck of the woods. Breezes are rare commodities. 🙂 x
Thank you Deb.
❤
Beautiful shot ✨
Balroop, you know it’s hot when:
even the sun dives in
seeking some respite
True! Thanks for stopping by Lisa.
You’re welcome.
Such a different experience from Sadje who talks about the wind chimes tinkling, and monsoons. I love the phrase, “even the sun dives in seeking some respite.” I’m glad it doesn’t tire of shining in real life, but I love the picture your words paint, Balroop. 🙂 🙂 xxxx
Thank you Marsha. Isn’t it amazing that we are writing about our experiences and sharing them though we are sitting in different zones. All thanks to Colleen for the prompts.
It is amazing how important the weather is to all of us, and how similar some climates are to others in opposite parts of the world.
So true!
The heat is coming through in everyone’s poetry, Balroop, and yours are no exception. I practically need to turn on the fan! Wonderful, my friend. Stay cool!
This was the longest spell of heat this season. Usually it relents after 2 days. Thank you for chiming in Diana, much appreciated.
wonderful haiku Balroop. Fills my senses. I, for one, am ready for shorter days and cool breezes as I’m sure you are!
Thanks Lisa. Every summer, those thoughts return as we long for cool breeze! 🤗
Wonderful haikus, Balroop! They truly capture this year’s summer.

Loved your haikus, Balroop. Especially enjoyed these lines,
“even the sun dives in
seeking some respite”
Thank you Kitty.
You are welcome, Balroop. 🙂
All your words chosen paint a vivid color of your summer. Even the sun dives… up until now it (sun) was unaware of how powerful it was. Oh golly… but sun is sun. Have a cool summer, dear Balroop. Lovely poetry.
Thank you Selma for coming over to read my poetry and share your thoughts. Wishing you too a cool summer.
