#SyllabicPoetry: 24 Seasons…

First fun
of June summer:
juicy mango delight,
the favorite fruit of children.
orchards
receive little brats, seeking thrill
of gathering fresh fruit –
a gallant game
of friends.

Seeking
fairy magic
this summer, I linger
at our favorite patio
to watch
the resplendent strawberry moon
alone, like me, yet blithe,
showering love
and light.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry about seasons. I’ve written two Butterfly Cinquains. The Butterfly Cinquain is an unrhymed, nine-line syllabic poem with 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2 syllables per line.

The Kigo words have been highlighted.

Thank you dear readers. If you like poetry, read more: Moments We Love

  2. children can never resist this mango delight…I doubt us adults can too😬

    “alone, like me, yet blithe..”

    beautifully poignant, Balroop G 🤍🙏

  3. Aww mangoes. I jotted something down about mangoes too. How very cool. And butterfly cinquain too. Again cool. Will post tomorrow.
I love yours, Balroop. Happy summer and summer solstice/full moon. Yay. Eat a mango for me. 🥹

  4. Hi Balroop, that was so lovely. I’m sorry I haven’t been around (been babysitting my grandbaby), but I’ve thought of you and send hugs.

    1. Thank you Luanne. I can understand how grand babies take all our time and offer immense joy. Enjoy the moments as they fleet away too fast.

  5. Lovely, Balroop. Tenderness and sadness, light and dark, all beautifully captured in verse. ❤️
