#Ekphrastic #Poetry Challenge – 24 Seasons…

My Window

serene
spring morning,
a fragrant path
flanked by rose bushes –
a poignant reminder
of delightful days we loved!
Ensnared by emotional bars,
bigger than parameters of grief,
I watch from my window, for your presence.

The chill of your absence seeped through my bones
but breeze of yearning wafts around me
I wait for the magic of hope
dappled light and shade rips me
shadows subdue spirit
positivity
lies in shambles –
a challenge
beyond
me.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry. I chose to write a double etheree. The kigo words I used have been highlighted.

Thank you dear readers. If you like poetry, read more: Moments We Love

  1. Two beautiful perspectives within your poetry Balroop… You speak deeply from your heart and it shows in all of your poetry my friend.. Sending LOVE xx ❤

  2. Sweet Balroop, your poetry sings of your love. Writing is a calming balm for your sorrow but also a way to remember your love. You can’t rush grief or sweep it away. It just is part of your healing. God bless.

  3. Beautiful, poignant, and so heartfelt, Balroop. Positivity will come in time. There is no clock on grief. As always, I pray for your healing of heart and soul. ❤️ 🙏

    1. Thank you Mae, for sharing lovely words of encouragement. Grief never fades, it sits in the heart and seeps down our skin. We just learn to brush it aside.

  4. The form you chose worked perfectly for the struggling emotions your words expressed, Balroop. Thank you for sharing your deepest self in your poem, and wishing you moments of relief from your grief in the beauty of spring. A beautiful and touching poem.

    1. You are so right Diana, it is a constant struggle and I’ve poured each emotion into my poems. Thank you so much for reading and understanding. 🤗

    1. Thanks Lisa. My thoughts veered toward the figure in the window, far away, at the end of the path and the flowers lost their beauty, as I looked at that window.

  5. Spring is so magical, Balroop. I loved how you acknowledged the beauty of the scene. Grief holds you, but still, you find the strength and will to go on. That’s strength, my friend. ❤️

  6. Beautiful writing as usual, Balroop. You put a lot of thought and emotion into it. Spring can seem like a magical season, with growth and blooms as the light intensifies. Very brave of you to share what you are truly feeling. Healing takes its time, and I hope you are taking time out for yourself. Sending you much love my friend. Take care ❤

    1. Hi Mabel, nice to see you. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for sharing your feedback and your lovely words of support. Love and hugs. 🤗

      1. I am doing okay. It is lovely to see you back blogging and sharing your poetry, Balroop. Best wishes to you, and hugs back to you 🤗❤

  7. Two lovely poems full of emotion and beauty, Balroop. One day at a time always sounds like the best option. I’m glad spring has arrived to help you navigate through the grief. I hope with each passing day, its grip loosens. Hugs 💞

  8. Your double etheree works very well in this poem, Balroop! We grief in spring, summer, autumn, and winter! You’ll know it when you’re ready. No hurry! You may feel guilty for laughing or even smiling but don’t, your husband wants you to be happy. For now, just be yourself for yourself, not for anyone else.

  9. Balroop I can imagine a place so perfect that you once shared with your beloved would be a terrible trigger if you went there again. At the same time, it is part of the process of healing :(

  10. Balroop. Beautiful awareness: “Ensnared by emotional bars, bigger than parameters of grief,”

    And

“I wait for the magic of hope

    dappled light and shade”

Beautiful transition to in these few lines. Thanks for sharing. Be well, dear friend. 🤗
