#Autumn #Shadorma #Poetry

divesting
dreary summer robes
the landscape
shimmers with
magnificent crimson and
autumn kissed, limp leaves.

 ***

new attire
accentuates hues,
darkened by
autumn sun
changing the connotation
of transient decay.

***

just behold!
autumn sunsets that
add beauty
to branches
adorned with ochre and red
some greens smile through them.

A Shadorma consists of a six-line stanza (or sestet). Each stanza is written as 3-5-3-3-7-5 for a total of 26 syllables with no set rhyme scheme.

Thanks to Colleen for the inspiration to write syllabic poetry.

This week, my gratitude goes to Sally Cronin for a fabulous review of my poetry book  Fusion – my latest release

  1. These are gorgeous, Balroop. I love the line: “changing the connotation / of transient decay”
I think about that strange contradiction of decay and beauty when I think of autumn, and you voiced that well. Oh, and “autumn kissed, limp leaves.” How beautiful.

  2. Autumn has never sounded so beautiful or enchanting, Balroop, as when viewed through the lens of your beautiful poetry. I loved this!

  3. I like how this poem holds the essence of autumn. The sunsets adding “beauty to branches” is a vivid and evocative image. The choice of colors, “ochre and red,” conjures images of falling leaves, and the mention of “some greens smile through them” hints at the gradual transition of nature during this time. Beautiful.
An effective celebration of the natural beauty that graces us during the autumn season.

    1. Pat, I love how you feel the nuances of the words! Your deep understanding of emotions stand out when you share your insights. Thank you so much for reading the poems with passion. 🥰

  4. Beautiful phrases. I love, “accentuates hues,
    darkened by
autumn sun” That is exactly what happens to the bright green leaves of spring and summer. I also loved the idea of “transient decay.” We would hate if decay was not transient. This one made me think and visualize. I could go back to this one again and again, Balroop.
