Crescent is complacent
It knows its glorious glimmer
Would wilt the transient cover
Of clouds that may seem threatening
Sun whispers hope.
~
I could hear the melodies
Of crescent moon that hung above
Darkness melted with the lilting sound
That merged in the symphony of sun
I chose life.
~
Skeptical of stepping
Into the wider world of hope
Where darkness disturbed the quiet
She stood rooted to the threshold
Shackled by false safety.
~
If the night was dark
A new day is smiling at the horizon
You hug clouds but I look at the sun
The harbinger of new hues
That speak of life.

A beautiful and hope filled poem, Balroop.
Each one is a separate Tanka. 🙂
And each equallymeaningful.
Thanks 😊
Beautiful, Balroop. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Jill.
“Darkness disturbed the quiet”–that sure has me thinking.
I am delighted to hear that Jacqui 🙏
Your beautiful words of hope offered more beauty to Sue’s spectacular photo! ❤
Thanks Deb, this picture is speaking about dimensions of life.
Focusing on hope… Lovely, Balroop!
Thanks Bette 💕
Anything to do with the moon—I’m all in! This is another beautiful poem you’ve created from a photo, Balroop. I especially love this: “Darkness melted with the lilting sound
That merged in the symphony of sun”
I am so glad you liked these little poems, I have tried to create a string of Tanka.
Many deep thoughts in one poem, fascinating. I really love Tanka no 3 and want to quote your words there:
“ She stood rooted to the threshold
Shackled by false safety. “
How often that can be true.
Miriam
I am glad you could delve deeper into my thoughts, my poems always focus on meaningful images. Thank you Miriam.
Lovely words that evoke positive emotions. A great one.
Thank you arv… positivity creeps in whenever I write. 🙂
Oh! certainly! Keep spreading sunshine!
What a lovely poem, Balroop. The play/contrasts you create between the moon, clouds, and sun are so evocative. ❤
Life is like that Diana… it plays similar games. Thanks for discerning the spirit of these pieces, another experiment with short poetry.
An experiment that you pulled off without a hitch. 🙂
Thanks D 🤗
Each one is beautiful in its own way. But I particularly love this line right now, A new day is smiling at the horizon.
Thanks Denise. Each day dawns with a new hope.
Lovely, Balroop. I particularly love the second verse. Your word choices are amazing.
